For some children, such as those with learning disabilities, and/or those who may be 1-3 grades behind their peers academically, the academic foundation could be weak. But when the right tools are used in a learner-appropriate setting—tools that tackle learning issues at the source—the foundation and building blocks for learning move into place creating a firm foundation. Most teaching uses only sight and sound, but the NILD multi-sensory approach uses these senses plus touch (tactile) and movement (kinetic) to enhance memory and learning. An NILD Educational Therapist uses interactive, multi-faceted techniques to help struggling students think and learn effectively. The Socratic teaching model is based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking. This non-rote learning shapes and focuses reasoning, illuminates ideas, and creates independent thinkers. Hill Creek’s Pathways to Success program provides help and hope to the many students who struggle within the traditional classroom model. However, all students can benefit from the NILD methods used. Is your child academically frustrated with tendencies to give up? Is he or she becoming more unmotivated? Through Hill Creek’s Pathways to Success program, students and parents will be given new hope. The Pathways program takes a new approach toward educating your special needs students. Our philosophy is to celebrate the unique God-given gifts within each child by putting the emphasis on abilities and not disabilities. We believe that our program, which partners with home schooling, will give your student the confidence he or she needs to be successful. Our goal is to achieve your child’s fullest potential emotionally, spiritually, and academically through inclusion in a small classroom environment. We believe that students with learning differences can enjoy learning, experience academic success and gain the skills necessary to graduate from high school and go on to college or the workforce. If you are interested in placing your child on a pathway to success, please don’t hesitate to call us for more information.
